Our Story

A community of learners since 2004.

"Develop a passion for learning. If you do, you will never cease to grow."
— Anthony J. D'Angelo

Exceptional Learners (EXL) was founded in 2004 by Krystina Timmer, a psychologist whose early work centered on supporting children one-on-one. Drawing on her training and a deep belief in the potential of every child, she began offering individualised educational support to families seeking a more attentive approach to learning.

Within two years, demand had grown well beyond what private tutoring could meet, and EXL was established as a private institution. What began as a single educator's commitment to personalised learning has since evolved into a full school community.

Today, EXL serves more than 150 students from preschool through high school, delivering a rigorous academic program paired with the individualised attention that has defined our approach from the beginning. With a student–teacher ratio of 12:1 — and just 6:1 in our preschool classes — every child is known, challenged, and supported as they grow.
