Exceptional Learners (EXL) was founded in 2004 by Krystina Timmer, a psychologist whose early work centered on supporting children one-on-one. Drawing on her training and a deep belief in the potential of every child, she began offering individualised educational support to families seeking a more attentive approach to learning.
What began as a single educator's commitment to personalised learning has since evolved into a full school community.
Today, EXL serves more than 150 students from preschool through high school, delivering a rigorous academic program paired with the individualised attention that has defined our approach from the beginning. With a student–teacher ratio of 12:1 — and just 6:1 in our preschool classes — every child is known, challenged, and supported as they grow.
After completing our high school program, EXL students go on to pursue their life dreams at colleges, schools, and universities around the world — including institutions across the United States, Canada, France, the Caribbean, and beyond.
